The Application Process
Step One
Complete the relevant online Diocesan Safe Ministry Clearance application form (see Below)
Step Two
Once Step One is complete, you will be given information about how to fill out the relevant South Australian State Government clearance form.
Step Three
Once the screening stage of your application has been successfully completed, you’ll be given information about how to undertake the necessary training
Step Four
Once the training is completed the application process is complete and you will receive a Safe Ministry compliance letter
Step One
Select the relevant clearance application form.
All clergy, anyone licensed or authorised by the bishop and paid ministry workers select Blue Application.
All wardens, parish councillors, treasurers and all other adult volunteers select Orange Application.
All Volunteers aged 14 to 17 who have contact with children select Green Application.
Once you’ve completed Step One, you’ll receive an email notification of receipt along with directions to complete Step Two.
Information you’ll need to complete your application
All Blue Form applicants need:
- List of all previous residential addresses
- List of all churches you have attended regularly during your adult life
- List of employment history
- THREE (3) referees (1 x senior church leader, 1 x current or former employer, and 1 x person who knows you well and for at least three years) who are over eighteen years of age and be able to give a report on your good character and suitability for ministry, governance or oversight of children and young people. They must NOT be a relative, close friend or a member of an Ordination Selection Panel. If you have lived in another state or country within the last ten year, please include a referee from your last parish or organisation in that state and/or country. Referees must have provided their permission to use their contact information.
For ordained applicants
- Record of Ordination / Consecration
For applicants who(’ve) held a Bishop’s Licence
- List of all Bishop’s Licences or Authorities you have held
All Orange Form applicants need:
- A list of all churches, parishes or congregations, and if appropriate, church and para-church organisations (such as Scripture Union groups, Crusaders, etc) where you have undertaken ministry as a voluntary worker.
- TWO (2) referees (1 x church leader, 1 x employer or a person who knows you well and for at least three years). In this context, a ‘referee’ is someone over 18 years of age who is able to give a report on your good character and suitability for ministry among children and young people. A referee cannot be a relative or a close friend. If you have lived in another state or country within the last three years, please nominate at least one referee from your most recent parish or placement in that state or country. Referees must have provided their permission to use their contact information.
All Green Form applicants need:
- A list of all churches, parishes or congregations, and if appropriate, church and para-church organisations (such as Scripture Union groups, Crusaders, etc) where you have undertaken ministry as a voluntary workers.
- TWO (2) referees (1 x church leader, 1 x employer or a person who knows you well and for at least three years). In this context, a ‘referee’ is someone over 18 years of age who is able to give a report on your good character and suitability for ministry among children and young people. A referee may be a parent or other responsible adult, such as a church leader, teacher or employer, or someone who has known you for longer than one year. Only one referee can be closely related to you. We will contact your referees to tell us what they know that’s relevant to our assessment of your suitability to be a voluntary church worker. Referees must have provided their permission to use their contact information.
The blue Safe Ministry application form is to be completed by all Clergy, anyone licenced or authorised by the bishop and paid ministry workers
The orange Safe Ministry application form is to be completed by all wardens, parish councillors (or equivalent), treasurers and all other adult volunteers
The green Safe Ministry application form is to be completed by volunteers from ages 14 to 17 who have non-incidental contact with children eg. Sunday school teaching
